Sharp-Shooting Men's Basketball Beats Cobleskill

The Wells College men's basketball team made 10 more 3-pointers than visiting SUNY Cobleskill and earned a 78-62 victory in a North Eastern Athletic Conference game Saturday, Jan. 20 at the Schwartz Athletic Center.

The Express was 13-for-25 from behind the 3-point line and its 52 percent shooting percentage from behind the arc was its best of the season. Cobleskill was 3-for-19 from behind the arc.

Macho DeJesus led Wells with 23 points and was 7-for-10 from deep. Tyree Fisher scored 13 and Rich Ross and Anthony Nesci scored nine points each. Rich Ross led Wells with five assists and shared the team lead with five rebounds. David Dames also had five rebounds. Nesci had four steals.

The Express trailed 13-5 in the opening minutes of the game but rallied to take a 40-30 lead at halftime. Wells went on a 13-2 run over the final four minutes of the opening half.

Cobleskill closed to within two points of Wells but the Express seized control with a 12-2 run over a three-minute span that included two treys from DeJesus, one from Fisher and a driving layup and free throw from Rich Ross.

Wells improved to 5-12 overall and 3-5 in the NEAC. Cobleskill is 4-12 overall and 1-8 in the conference.

Wells is back in action Wednesday, Jan. 24 at Penn College at 6 p.m.
