Cold Shooting Sinks Men's Basketball Against D'Youville

The Wells College men's basketball team lost 67-48 to visiting D'Youville College in the season-opening game for both teams on Saturday, Nov. 10 at the Schwartz Athletic Center. Two players scored in double figures for the Express.

The Express shot 31.6 percent in the game with 18 made field goals on 57 attempts. Wells was 5-for-25 on 3-point attempts. Wells managed just 22 points in the first half and its 48 points for the game was the team's lowest total since scoring 42 against Lancaster Bible College on Jan. 24, 2015.

Wells got off to a strong start and scored the first five points, but that marked the team's largest lead of the game. D'Youville answered with an 11-2 run and held the lead for the rest of the game. The Spartans led 32-22 at halftime.

In the second half, the D'Youville lead grew to 27 points. Wells scored 10 points in the final four minutes of the game and the final margin was 19.

Rich Ross scored 14 points and had eight rebounds for Wells. Jalen Tribble had 11 points, eight rebounds, and four blocked shots. Tyree Fisher had five points and eight rebounds. DaVontai Crutch had eight points.

Wells is back in action Tuesday, Nov. 13 at Alfred State.
