Men's Basketball Falls On The Road At Alfred State

The Wells College men's basketball team went on the road for the first time this season and lost at Alfred State 84-67. Rich Ross and Jalen Tribble scored in double figures for the Express.

Ross scored 21 points with three assists. He made four 3-pointers on seven attempts. Tribble had 19 points and six rebounds with two blocked shots.

Wells held a 7-6 lead after five minutes but Alfred State went ahead by single-digit margins as both teams struggled to score in the early going. Wells trailed 13-12 with 11 minutes left in the half and a 9-0 run by the Pioneers sent Alfred State to a 10-point lead for the first time in the game. Alfred State led 39-29 at half.

A 3-pointer from Ross pulled Wells within nine points midway through the second half, but other than that brief stretch Alfred State maintained its double-digit lead.

Alfred State shot 55 percent from the field in the game and Wells was under 42 percent from the floor. Alfred State held a 44-32 rebounding advantage.

DaVontai Crutch led Wells with seven rebounds and A.J. Nesci had a team-best nine assists.

Wells is back in action Saturday, Nov. 17 at home against Rochester Institute of Technology at 2 p.m. at the Schwartz Athletic Center.
