Wells Men's Basketball Wins NEAC Game Against Keuka

The Wells College men's basketball team controlled the second half and defeated Keuka College 78-68 on Thursday, Dec. 6 at the Schwartz Athletic Center in Aurora, N.Y. Wells scored 49 points in the second half of the game, its highest-scoring half of the season.

Neither team led by more than six in the first half, and the six-point lead was a 19-13 Wells advantage midway through the first. Keuka rallied and led 30-29 at halftime.

Keuka scored the first eight points of the second half and the Wolves held their largest lead of the contest at 38-29 with 18:05 remaining. After a Wells timeout, the Express outscored Keuka 27-11 over the next seven minutes. Wells led 56-49 and never trailed again.

Wells was 22-for-25 at the free-throw line and clinched the victory down the stretch at the line.

All nine players to appear in the game played 11 minutes or more, and four Wells players scored in double figures.

Rich Ross led Wells with 20 points. He scored 18 points in the second half and made four from behind the arc. Ross added nine assists and four steals with five rebounds.

Tyree Fisher had 15 points and Jalen Tribble had 12 points. A.J. Nesci scored all 10 of his points at the free-throw line and was 10-for-12 on the night. Tribble had seven rebounds and two blocked shots. DaVontai Crutch had eight points and nine rebounds.

The Wells victory leveled its North Eastern Athletic Conference record at 1-1 on the year, and Keuka is also 1-1 in the NEAC. Wells is 2-5 overall and Keuka is 4-4. The Express will play again Dec. 29 and 30 at the Naples Shootout in Naples, Fla. Wells will face Connecticut College on Dec. 29 and then take on Suffolk University on Dec. 30.
