Men's Basketball Battles Tough Against Abington

The Wells College men's basketball team battled one of the top teams in the North Eastern Athletic Conference down to the final minutes of the game but came up on the losing side of a 68-59 game against Penn State Abington on Saturday, Jan. 26 at the Schwartz Athletic Center.

Wells trailed by as many as 16 points in the second half but surged back and reduced the deficit to single digits down the stretch.

Penn State Abington entered the game standing in second place in the NEAC South Division with a 6-2 conference record.

The Nittany Lions led 34-21 at halftime and extended the lead to a 16-point margin at 44-28 with 17 minutes left to play. Wells responded with a 16-2 run to pull within two points. Five different Wells players scored in the surge for the Express. Penn State Abington held on down the stretch for the win.

Ty McBride led Wells with 17 points and added three assists. Jalen Tribble had a double-double with 15 points and a game-high 12 rebounds, and added two blocked shots and two steals. Dylan Frost had 11 points.

Wells plays a non-conference game against nationally-ranked Hamilton College on Monday, Jan. 28 at 7:15 p.m. at the Schwartz Athletic Center.
