Cazenovia Holds Off Wells Men's Basketball

The Wells College men's basketball team lost 86-76 at Cazenovia College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference road game Wednesday, Jan. 30. Four players scored in double figures for the Express.

Cazenovia took an early lead and never relinquished the advantage. The Wildcats had a balanced scoring attack with four players in double figures, including three non-starters who combined for 50 points.

Wells made a run in the second half and pulled within one point at 45-44 when Dylan Frost converted in the paint. Back-and-forth action the rest of the way saw Cazenovia extend its lead to double digits en route to a 10-point victory.

Ty McBride led Wells with 25 points. He has scored in double-figures in five of seven games since joining the Wells roster in January. His 25-point effort was a season and career-best scoring total, and it came on 9-of-14 shooting from the field.

Jalen Tribble and A.J. Nesci scored 11 points each. Rich Ross added 10 points. Tribble led Wells with 13 rebounds and two blocked shots.

Wells will play next at Saint Elizabeth on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 3 p.m.
