Men’s Basketball Team’s 2019-20 Schedule Announced

The Wells College men's basketball team released its 2019-20 schedule that includes 25 regular season games and one exhibition game. In the lone exhibition contest, the Express will kick-off its season by hosting SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry on Friday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m.

The team will then open the official season with nine non-conference games before beginning 16 matchups in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play beginning with visiting Penn State Harrisburg on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 1 p.m. as the only 2019 calendar NEAC game for the Express.

Wells resumes conference play in January, featuring seven NEAC opponents with four road contests and three home appearances. The Express begins January with three of the first four on the road against Gallaudet (Jan. 11), Lancaster Bible (Jan. 12) and Morrisville (Jan. 15). Wells plays its first home game of the 2020 calendar year between the latter two road contests by hosting Cobleskill on Saturday, Jan. 18 at 1 p.m. The team returns to the road against Keuka (Jan. 22), before concluding January with a pair of home games on Saturday, Oct. 25 against Cazenovia and Wednesday, Oct. 29 versus SUNY Poly.

Five of the eight February NEAC games are rematches that include home contests against Morrisville (Feb. 1) and Keuka (Feb. 8), with road NEAC rematches against Cobleskill (Feb. 5), Cazenovia (Feb. 12) and SUNY Poly (Feb. 19). The remaining three February games (one road and two home) are at Penn State Abington (Feb. 15), versus Penn State Berks (Jan. 21) and versus Penn College (Feb. 22).

Wells faces each of the 11 other NEAC members at least once and divisional opponents twice. Prior to the start of NEAC play, the Express will embark on two tournaments that comprise four of the nine non-conference games. The first tournament begins the season for the Express at home in the Finger Lakes Classic. Wells takes on Hiram on Nov. 9 at 8 p.m. and finishes the Finger Lakes Classic with a contest against Cabrini on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 3 p.m.

Wells will also participate in the New York University Tipp-off Tournament at Hunter College where the Express will take on host NYU on Saturday, Nov. 23 before finishing the next day in either the championship or consolation game against the Western New England Golden Bears or the Fairleigh Dickinson University Florham Devils.

The remaining five contests include three road games between the aforementioned tournaments with games in Western New York that include: Rochester Institute of Technology (Nov. 12), D'Youville (Nov. 15) and Medaille (Nov. 19). The month of December begins with a pair of non-conference home games against Ithaca on Monday, Dec. 2 and Houghton on Wednesday, Dec. 7.
