Men’s Basketball Team Falls to Tournament Host NYU

The Wells College men's basketball team fell to New York University on the first day of NYU's Tip-Off Tournament at the Hunter College Gymnasium by a 74-59 score on Saturday, Nov. 23.

The Express held the lead for most of the first half with both teams trading leads for the first 14 minutes with no lead greater than three. However, a Jalen Tribble three provided the first two-score lead of the game at 19-14 for Wells with six minutes to go in the first. Just three minutes later, Ty McBride buried a three of his own for the Express' biggest lead of the game at eight points at 26-18.

NYU scored 11 of the next 14 points to draw even at 29 apiece during the final minute of the first half before taking the lead for good at the break at 33-29.

Izaiah McPherson led the Express in points with 17 and rebounds with seven. Tribble and Zach D'Arpino joined McPherson as Express double-digit scorers with 11 points each, while Jahlil Nougues had a team-high six assists.

The men's basketball team will play tomorrow at 12 p.m. in a game to decide the consolation winner against Fairleigh Dickinson University-Fordham.
