Men’s Basketball Team’s Rally Falls Short Against Mustangs

The Wells College men's basketball team outscored visiting SUNY Morrisville, 30-27 in the second half but couldn't make up the 13-point first-half deficit before falling to the Mustangs by a 64-54 score on Saturday, Feb. 1.

The difference in the game may have been the arc in the first half. While Morrisville got almost half of their first-half points from six threes, the Express were snake bit. Wells improved on all its shooting percentages in the second half that included shots from the field, 3-point shots and free throws.

Wells turned it up late in the second and twice got within three scores. Jalen Tribble and Jalen Feliz co-led the Express in scoring with 10 points each, while Feliz also had a team-high five boards from the bench. Tribble added a pair of blocks.

Dylan Frost added eight points with a half-dozen coming from both Zach D'Arpino and Ty McBride. Anthony Nesci registered three assists, while McBride and Quentin Battle combined for a half-dozen steals.

The men's team next travels to SUNY Cobleskill on Wednesday, Feb. 5 with a 5 p.m. tipoff.
