'On This Day' Men’s Basketball Team Completes Pair of Washington Contests

'On This Day' is a Wells College Athletics feature series taking a look back on events that occurred on this day, Dec. 22, six years ago in 2014.

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Wells College men's basketball team completed its trip nearly 2,500 miles away in Washington with a game against Whitworth University Monday afternoon at the Whitworth Fieldhouse, Dec. 22, 2014.

The Express came from Walla Walla, Wash. the previous day with a contest against Whitman College in the first of its two games in the west.

Jordan Jean was the top Express point getter with a team-high 13 points against Whitworth and 10 points against Whitman. He also led the team in rebounds against Whitman with seven.

Jordan Bishop and James Feocco also hit double-digit points against Whitman, while Shakeel Simmons had a team-high six boards against Whitworth.

In the wrap-up game against Whitworth, the Pirates took the contest despite making only 10 field goals from within the arc. It was outside the arc where Whitworth did its damage with a team record 19 threes at over 60 percent.
