Men's Basketball Secures First Win Of The Season
The Wells College Express men's basketball team hosted the Clarks Summit Defenders on Sunday afternoon for another non-conference game. The Express would grab their first win of the season 76-72.
The Express and Defenders were in a tight contest for the first 5 minutes of the game. The Express began opening up a 23-12 lead forcing some substitutions for Clarks Summit. Clarks Summit would turn the ball over 10 times in the first half and Wells was able to take advantage shooting 48% from the floor and 30% from 3-point land. Going into the half, Ivan Oduro-Dompreh had 10 points while Terrance Clayton-Murphy had 11. The Express lead, 40-33.
In the second half, the Express built their lead up to 58-39. After a brief stoppage in play, the Defenders would go on a run of their own fighting all the way back to only be down 70-72 with 90 seconds left to play. Jarek Feliz would hit two critical free throws to extend the lead to four and grab a defensive rebound on the other end. Then in the final seconds, Ransel Rodriguez sealed the victory by hitting 2 free throws and finalizing the score at 76-72.
Men's basketball will be back in action Tuesday the 29th at Elmira College.
