Dr. Michael Bowser was hired as the Assistant Coach of
the men's basketball team at Wells College in September 2013. Dr.
Bowser joins the Express after serving as the Head Coach of men's
basketball at NEAC-rival Cazenovia College from 2005 to 2013.
Dr. Bowser was hired as the men’s basketball coach at
Cazenovia in 2005, replacing long time Head Coach Todd
Widrick with whom he served as an assistant for dating
back to 2002 before taking the program’s reins. Across a
nine-year tenure with the Wildcats, Bowser racked up 69 coaching
victories and was selected as the NEAC’s top coach in
2007-08, earning Coach of the Year merits while his team claimed
the 2007-08 NEAC Co-Championship.
Prior to joining the Wildcats, Dr. Bowser served as the Junior
Varsity Head Coach and Varsity Assistant Coach at Fabius
(N.Y.)-Pompey High School. He also coached middle school basketball
at Liverpool (N.Y.) High School. Dr. Bowser practiced as a
successful cardiologist in upstate New York for many years,
retiring at the age of 55 to pursue a lifelong dream of coaching
basketball.
A Buffalo, N.Y. native, Dr. Bowser was a 1966 graduate of the
College of the Holy Cross and went on to receive a degree in
internal medicine and cardiology from SUNY Upstate Medical
University in Syracuse, N.Y.
