DOLPHINS DIVE OVER EXPRESS

Aurora, N.Y.– The Mt. St. Vincent College men's lacrosse team (4-3) scored four fourth quarter goals as the Dolphins came back to defeat the Wells College Express (0-5) 11-8 on Sunday afternoon in Aurora, N.Y. Kylan Hallett (Basom, N.Y./Akron Central) led the Express with three goals and one assists, while Dan Hunt (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) and Chris Burger (West Valley, N.Y./West Valley) added two goals and one assists each. Kyle Brimm (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) suffered the loss in net for the Express finishing with 18 saves.

Eight different players scored for the Dolphins led by Dan Cohen (Ardsley, N.Y./Ardsley) with two goals and two assists, while Rowan Frederick (Brooklyn, N.Y./FDA) added seven points on one goal and six assists. Mike Nuzzi (Westbury, N.Y./Clarke) earned the win in net with 10 saves.

The Dolphins dominated in shots (60-25), ground balls (61-31), and face-offs (14-8), while the Express held the advantage in clears (24-19).

Down 4-1 in the second quarter, the Express came battling back, scoring five unanswered goals, including two by Hunt, while Brimm kept the Dolphins off the board with five saves as Wells took a 6-4 lead into the break.

Cohen opened the scoring in the third, scoring an unassisted goal at 10:54, pulling the Dolphins to within one, 6-5. Hallett responded for Wells sending an incredible bounce shot top corner to extend the lead, 7-5 at 8:51. The Dolphins refused to lay down as Miller Celestin (Brooklyn, N.Y./Midwood) scored on a feed from Cohen and Derek Valance (Glen Cove, N.Y./Glen Cove) found the net with 57 seconds remaining in the third to tie the game, 7-7, heading into the fourth.

The Dolphins blew the game open in the fourth, scoring three straight goals as Frederick would orchestrate the scoring, assisting on two of the goals, and three of the last four to lead Mt. St. Vincent to the comeback victory.

The Express return to action on Sunday, March 28, against Penn. St. Abington at 4:00 p.m. in Aurora, N.Y.
