DOLPHINS USE LATE RUN, TOP EXPRESS

(Yonkers, N.Y.)─ Despite five goals and two assists from Jonathan Mulcahey (Fulton, N.Y./Fulton) the Wells College men's lacrosse team fell 15-10 to the Mt. St. Vincent Dolphins on Saturday afternoon in Yonkers, N.Y. Kyle Brimm (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) finished with 23 saves in the loss, while Dolphins goalie Kyle Kalibat earned the win in net with 12 saves. The loss drops the Express to 2-1 on the season while the Dolphins improve to 2-2.

Kylan Hallett (Basom, N.Y./Akron) added three goals, while Dan Munsel (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) and Chris Burger (West Valley, N.Y./West Valley) each scored one goal to round out the scoring for the Express.

Mike Shea paced the Dolphins with six goals and one assist. Bruce Pappas added three goals, while Matt Desimone chipped in with two goals and one assist for Mt. St. Vincent.

The Dolphins held the advantage in shots 57-34 and groundballs 51-32. The Express finished 11 of 28 on the face-off and were 18 of 24 on the clear, while finishing just 3 of 14 on the extra man opportunity.

Mulcahey scored the game's first goal 46-seconds into play giving the Express an early 1-0 lead. The Dolphins battled back with two straight goals and would extend their lead to as many (4-2) midway through the first half. The score remained until Hallett found the back of the cage with less than two minutes to play in the quarter, cutting the lead to one, 4-3.

The second quarter began just as the first ended with Hallett tallying a quick score 16-seconds in, tying the game 4-4. The Dolphins scored three straight to open up a 7-4 lead but the Express continued to battle, again pulling within one goal (7-6) on goals by Mulcahey and Hallett.

That would prove to be as close as the Express would come as the Dolphins extended their lead to 9-7 in the third quarter before pulling away in the fourth, outscoring Wells 6-3, to seal the victory.

The Express return to action on Tuesday, March 22 when they travel to Oneonta, N.Y. to take on Hartwick College. The game is set to start at 4 p.m.
