(Aurora, N.Y.)─ Wells College men's lacrosse senior Kylan Hallett (Basom, N.Y./Akron) scored two goals setting the single season school mark for goals in a season (35) and points (44) in the Express 20-9 season finale loss to the Morrisville State Mustangs on Monday afternoon in Aurora. The Express finish the season at 3-8 (1-5 NEAC) while the Morrisville State Mustangs improve to 10-3 (6-0 NEAC).
Dan Munsell (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) led all Express scorers with three goals. Jonathan Mulcahey (Fulton, N.Y./Fulton) added one goal and two assist while Steven Mack (Rome, N.Y./Rome) chipped in with one goal. Goalie David Kaus finished with nine saves in the loss.
Adam Lewis (Painted Post, N.Y.) paced the Mustangs with six goals while teammate Dean Priest (Hinesburg, Vt./Champlain Valley) finished with a total of seven points on two goals and five assists. Michael Hinchey (Lake Katrine, N.Y./Kingston) earned the victory in net finishing with seven saves.
Hallett tied the all-time single season scoring mark of 43 points, set by current assistant coach Dan Hunt, snipping a shot top left corner from 15 yards out for a 1-0 lead. Munsell put the Express ahead for second time, scoring an unassisted goal to give Wells the 2-1 edge with nine minutes to play in the first.
The Mustangs took over from there, notching five straight goals to close the quarter with a 6-2 lead. A goal by Mack pulled the Express back to within three (6-3) early in the second but, the Mustangs continued to find the back of the cage, finishing the quarter with four unanswered goals and a 10-3 halftime lead.
The Mustangs extended their lead to ten in the third quarter (17-7) outscoring the Express 7-4.
Hallett broke the sing season mark just four minutes into the fourth. Making a strong move to the middle, Hallett fired a shot that found the back of the net as he fell to the ground giving him a total of 44 points (35 g, 9 a) on the season.
Hallett finishes his career as the team's all-time leading scorer with 80 goals, all-time assist leader with 32, and all-time leader in points with 122.
