Mt. Saint Mary's Outlasts Wells College

The Wells College men's lacrosse team lost a back and forth battle with nonconference foe Mt. St. Mary's College on Monday evening in Aurora, NY snapping a two game winning streak.  With the victory the Blue Knights improve to 5-6 and the Express fall to 3-3.

Seven different players made the scorer's sheet for the Express led by Nicholas Dolan (3g) and David Kaus (2g 1a) each tallying 3 points.  Also collecting points for the Express were Jon Mulcahey (1g 1a), Joe Kane (1a), Daniel Munsell (2a), Forrest Lambert (1g) and Rich Aberle (1g).

The first half was back and forth with the Express taking a 4-3 advantage into the break. The third quarter was more of the same close action leaving the score tied heading into the fourth quarter.  The Blue Knights came out strong in the fourth and quickly netted three goals.  The Express fought back by scoring two of their own making the score 8-9 with a 6:05 remaining.  That would be as close as Wells would get though, as Mt. St. Mary's scored an insurance goal with 2:51 left in the game to seal the win.

Freshman goalie Chris Galluzzo ended the day with 13 saves on 23 shots on goal.  Wells won the ground ball battle 50-47, Face offs 14-7, and outshot the Blue Knights 41-38.

The Express return to conference action on Wednesday with a home game against Medaille College at 4:00pm.
