Wells College Tabs Christopher Bily As Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach

AURORA, N.Y. – Syracuse, N.Y. native Christopher Bily was named the Head Coach of the Wells College men's lacrosse team, Director of Athletics Michael Borsz announced late Tuesday afternoon. Bily replaces three year Head Coach Bryan Jenkins, who departed this past December to start the men's lacrosse program at the University of Great Falls in Great Falls, Mont.

"We are absolutely thrilled to have Chris join our staff," said Borsz, who himself played collegiate men's lacrosse at Hobart College in Geneva, N.Y. "His connections to lacrosse in upstate New York combined with his experience as both a coach and athlete make him a truly unique candidate. We look forward to working with Chris as we grow our roster and focus on recruiting athletes across central New York."

"We are excited to see our men's lacrosse program take the next steps toward becoming a top-level NCAA Division III contender," concluded Borsz.

Bily comes to Aurora after serving as a Graduate Assistant at Robert Morris University in Chicago, Ill. With the Eagles, Bily helped to establish a first year program set to begin play in the Spring of 2013. In addition to his assistant coaching duties, Bily coordinated the program's recruiting under Head Coach Drew Stephenson. During his time at Robert Morris, Bily was involved within the community, serving as a Program Director and Youth Coach for Chicago Youth Lacrosse, growing the game throughout the Chicagoland area.

Prior to his tenure at Robert Morris, Bily served as an assistant boy's lacrosse coach at Onondaga Central Junior/Senior High School in Nedrow, N.Y., helping the program to three NYSPHSAA Section III playoff berths from 2007 to 2010. Outside of lacrosse, Bily has worked in the area as a substitute teacher for the East Syracuse-Minoa Central School District and also served as a Sociotherapist at the Hillside Children's Center in Syracuse.

A 2007 graduate of SUNY Cortland with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, Bily was a member of the 2005 SUNYAC Champion Red Dragons men's lacrosse team. Additionally, Bily was also a member of the boy's lacrosse team at West Genesee High School before graduating in 2002.

The men's lacrosse program opens their season on Saturday, Feb. 23 as they face-off against the Dolphins of the College of Mount Saint Vincent at Tibbetts Brook Park in Yonkers, N.Y.
