Men’s Lacrosse Set Back By Mt. St. Mary

NEWBURGH, N.Y. – Despite two goals from senior captain Daniel Munsell (Doylestown, Pa.), the Wells College men's lacrosse team posted a 21-2 loss to the Knights of Mount Saint Mary Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Express fall to 0-2 on the young season while the Knights improve to 1-1 overall following the non-conference contest.

Trailing by a 4-0 margin with 2:43 remaining in the first quarter, Munsell struck for his first goal of the season, unassisted, to place Wells on the board in the game. The Knights struck for the game's next 11 goals before Munsell concluded the third quarter with his second unassisted goal of the game to cut the deficit to 15-2.

Munsell led the team in several offensive categories, including shots (19), shots on goal (11) and ground balls (10). Freshman defenseman Hayden Shuster (Careywood, Idaho) led the team with five caused turnovers to his credit while also scooping six ground balls. Senior Brayden Shumski (Everett, Wash.) ranked second overall on the team with eight ground balls to his credit.

Express goaltender Tyler Bischoff (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) falls to 0-2 on the season, corralling 11 of 32 shots on goal that he faced. He also posted four ground balls to his credit in the loss.

Jake Robison passed the offense for the Knights, scoring three goals and six assists for nine points (3-6=9). Goaltender Connor Haran led the team with seven ground balls while also making 15 saves in the victory. Michael Mara relieved the starter Haran with 1:46 remaining in the contest.
