Munsell, Jansen Strike For Five In Loss To Morrisville St.

AURORA, N.Y. – Despite three goals from senior Daniel Munsell (Doylestown, Pa.) and two from freshman Connor Jansen (Horseheads, N.Y.), the Wells College men's lacrosse team posted an 18-5 loss to the Mustangs of Morrisville State College Saturday afternoon at the North Athletic Field. The Express remain winless on the season (0-7) while dropping their third North Eastern Athletic Conference tilt of the year (0-3). Morrisville St., the reigning conference regular season champions, improves to 3-5 on the year while drawing their third league victory.

Jansen struck first on the afternoon, elevating Wells to a 1-0 lead only 18 seconds into the game with an unassisted tally. Morrisville St. went on to tally the next eight goals in the game to take a commanding 8-1 lead before Munsell's first of the game with 12:18 remaining in the first half. An additional seven goal run by the Mustangs precede Jansen's second goal of the game only 52 seconds into the fourth quarter. Munsell posted two additional goals in the final 5:47 of regulation time, accounting for the Wells scoring in the contest.

Casey Jean led the way for Morrisville, tallying seven points courtesy of two goals and five assists (2-5=7) while Andrew Donoghue and John Sherlock each struck for four goals apiece. Morrisville St. outshot the host Express by a 54-to-16 margin and won 19-of-27 face-offs. The Mustangs were a flawless 16-for-16 on their clear attempts as well.

Express goalkeeper Tyler Bischoff (Allendale, N.J.) made a career-best 19 saves in the loss, ranking his single-game performance 13th all-time in Wells program history. The Mustangs used a triumvirate of goaltenders as Chris Fiore earned the victory after allowing only one goal on the afternoon.
