Program Records Shattered In 20-13 Victory Over Lyndon State

AURORA, N.Y. – Senior Daniel Munsell (Doylestown, Pa.) became the program's all-time scoring leader while freshman Connor Jansen (Horseheads, N.Y.) set the program's single game scoring record en route to a 20-13 home victory over the Hornets of Lyndon State College Tuesday afternoon at the North Athletic Field. The Express, who scored a program-record 20 goals, pick up their first overall victory of the season (1-7) following the non-conference tilt while the Hornets drop to 0-6 overall on the year.

With four goals and three assists for seven points (4-3=7) on the afternoon, Munsell eclipsed Kylan Hallett '11 for the all-time scoring record in Wells men's lacrosse history. Dating back to the program's inception in 2008, Hallett tallied 80 goals and 32 assists for 112 points (80-32=112) across his four year career with the Express. Munsell now has 117 career points to his credit, scoring 92 goals (a program record) and adding 25 assists.

Jansen tallied 11 points in this afternoon's game via seven goals and four assists (7-4=11), breaking the all-time single game scoring record held by Dan Hunt, Jonathan Mulcahey and Hallett. Hunt posted nine points against Penn St.-Abington on Mar. 28, 2010 while Mulcahey accomplished the feat against the same opponent on Mar. 31, 2012. Hallett struck for nine points against Mt. St. Mary's on Mar. 13, 2011. With seven goals, Jansen tied Hunt for the single game record in goals scored – Hunt accomplished that feat twice in his career.

Cumulatively as a team, the Express scored 31 points to set a program high in that category. Additionally, their 20 goals scored is the highest ever scored in program history. As a team, the Express won 22 face-offs, also setting an all-time program record in that category. Their 64 team ground balls rank them third all-time while their 15 caused turnovers as a team places them two shy of tying the all-time single game record.

Head Coach Christopher Bily, in his first season with the Express, picks up his first collegiate victory as bench boss of the men's lacrosse team.

Senior Dan Schilling (Huntington, N.Y.) set a personal best, striking for six of his team's 20 goals in the game. Classmate Matt Duffy (Huntington, N.Y.) chipped in with three assists while senior Brayden Shumski (Everett, Wash.) posted a goal and an assist for the Express. Sophomores Najee Brown (Bronx, N.Y.) and Uriel Lloyd (Bronx, N.Y.) each were able to score their first collegiate goals in the game.

Lyndon State jumped out in front to a 4-2 lead in the game before the Express rattled off the game's next six goals to capture the lead for good. Near the end of the first half, the Hornets were able to cut the score to 11-10 following a Timothy Patten goal but ultimately utilized a late Jansen goal to re-established a lead for good.

Patten posted 10 points for the Hornets, scoring seven goals and adding three assists. Robert Crupi tallied three goals and an assist for four points (3-1=4). Brett Lavigne, Brian Sawyer and Colin Young each added individual tallies for Lyndon State.

Express goalkeeper Tyler Bischoff (Allendale, N.J.) picked up his first collegiate victory, turning aside 15 shots on goal in the contest. Lyndon State netminder Matthew Reynolds allowed 19 goals on 37 shots on goal. After committing a penalty, Reynolds yielded to James Strange for 55 seconds – Strange made a save and also allowed a goal.
