Munsell Pots Five In 14-9 Loss To Cobleskill St.

COBLESKILL, N.Y. – Senior captain Daniel Munsell (Doylestown, Pa.) led the way for the Express, potting five goals as the Wells College men's lacrosse team posted a 14-9 loss to the Fighting Tigers of SUNY Cobleskill Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Express drop to 1-11 overall on the year and to 0-7 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play while the Fighting Tigers earn their first league victory of the year (3-8/1-6 NEAC).

Despite two quick goals from Cobleskill, the Express answered with two quick unassisted strikes from Munsell to knot the score at two. Despite a Thomas Faraone goal to conclude first quarter play, Munsell earned a hat trick with his goal with 12:39 remaining in the second quarter to tie the game. Cobleskill went on to score the game's next seven goals to build a 10-3 lead with 9:35 remaining in the third quarter.

The Express mounted a miniature comeback, as senior Dan Schilling (Huntington, N.Y.), Munsell and freshman Connor Jansen (Horseheads, N.Y.) scored three in a row in the late stages of the third quarter to cut the deficit to 10-6. The Fighting Tigers, however, were able to keep the Express at arm's length for the remainder of the competition.

Freshman Hayden Shuster (Careywood, Idaho) led the team with six ground balls while senior Brayden Shumski (Everett, Wash.) struck for his third goal of the season in the late stages of the contest. Caused turnover statistics were not tracked by the SUNY Cobleskill sports information staff and are unavailable at the time of this release.

Express goalkeeper Tyler Bischoff (Allendale, N.J.) falls to 1-11 overall on the season after making 12 saves on the afternoon. Eric Randazzo posted his third victory for SUNY Cobleskill, making 10 saves on 19 shots on net that he faced.
