Men’s Lacrosse Defeated By Hilbert, 20-1

HAMBURG, N.Y. – Senior Dan Schilling (Huntington, N.Y.) scored his team's only goal as the Wells College men's lacrosse team posted a 20-1 defeat at the hands of the Hawks of Hilbert College Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Express conclude their season with an overall record of 1-12 alongside a mark of 0-7 within North Eastern Athletic Conference play. The Hawks, who head to the NEAC postseason, improve to 9-4 and 5-2 within league play.

Schilling scored his team's lone goal with 4:37 remaining in the first quarter, converting a man-up opportunity with Brady Metcalf serving a major slashing penalty. Express goalkeeper Tyler Bischoff (Allendale, N.J.) led the team in ground balls while freshman Michael Flaherty (Rochester, N.Y.) chipped in four of his own.

Ryan Wagner led the way with three goals and an assist for Hilbert while posting a 5-0 mark on face-offs for the Hawks. Sean Purtill and Greg Zitnik posted a team-best five points off of two goals and three assists (2-3=5) while Nick Kieffer struck for three goals for Hilbert.

Bischoff was saddled with the loss between the pipes for Wells, making 14 saves in his 12th loss of the year. William Wagner earned the win, allowing a goal while making two saves before yielding to Alex Wisner for the second half of the game.
