Men's Lacrosse Downed By Keuka, 22-6

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Wells College men's lacrosse team posted a 22-6 loss to the Storm of Keuka College on Monday. With the defeat, Wells falls to 3-4 overall and to 0-4 within North Eastern Athletic Conference play. The Storm remain undefeated on the season, improving to 9-0 overall and to 5-0 within league play.

Freshman Alex Milliken (Hilton, N.Y.) registered two goals for Wells, scooping up six ground balls and causing three turnovers. Sophomore Connor Jansen (Horseheads, N.Y.) also netted two goals for the Express while freshman Derrick Owens (Utica, N.Y.) scored a goal and added an assist. Cody Roberson rounded out the scoring for the Express, adding a goal and scooping up six ground balls.

The Storm opened up a 12-1 first quarter and ultimately took a 14-3 lead entering halftime. Trailing 9-0, Milliken's first goal of the game with 5:31 left in the opening stanza cut into the deficit. Jansen scored back-to-back goals at 10:48 and 6:20 of the second quarter, cutting the deficit to nine goals at 12-3.

In the second half, the Express saw back-to-back fourth quarter goals from Milliken and Roberson only 27 seconds apart with around 13 minutes in regulation. An unassisted strike by Owens concluded the scoring by both sides with only 19 seconds left in the game.

For Keuka, Connor Latimer and Nick Scherer each scored three goals and three assists for six points (3-3=6), leading the team. Matt Mahalick won 17-of-19 face-offs for the Storm and picked up 15 ground balls to lead the team in both categories.

Express goaltender Tyler Bischoff (Allendale, N.J.) made 12 saves for Wells to earn the loss. Jacob Wood earned the victory for Keuka, making four saves through the first 30 minutes of action. Cameron Gormel allowed two goals on seven shots before yielding to Jacob Hinshaw with 1:44 left. Hinshaw allowed a goal on the lone shot he faced in the tilt.

Wells returns to action this Wednesday, Apr. 16 as they host the Hawks of Hilbert College in a 4:00 p.m. game at the North Athletic Field.
