Bischoff Makes 22 Saves In Men's Lacrosse Loss To SUNY Canton

CANTON, N.Y. – Junior backstop Tyler Bischoff (Allendale, N.J.) registered a career high 22 saves as the Wells College men's lacrosse team posted a 15-9 loss to the Kangaroos of SUNY Canton on Tuesday. With the loss, Wells falls to 3-7 following the non-conference tilt while the Kangaroos improve to 4-8 overall on the year.

Sophomore Connor Jansen (Horseheads, N.Y.) registered a team-leading four goals in the loss while freshman Alex Milliken (Hilton, N.Y.) ranked second on the team with three goals. Senior Alex Manley (South Buffalo, N.Y.) scored two goals and an assist for three points (2-1=3). Freshman Cody Roberson (Clemmons, N.C.) rounded out the point scoring for Wells, notching an assist.

Defensively, several members of the Express had strong games as freshmen Derrick Owens (Utica, N.Y.) and Roberson combined for 15 total ground balls. Sophomore Michael Flaherty (Rochester, N.Y.) caused a season high four turnovers for the Express.  

Wells only trailed by a 6-3 margin after Manley's goal with 6:30 left in the first half, but SUNY Canton went on to score the final five goals of the half to build a 10-3 lead entering halftime. Milliken scored his team's next two goals in the second half of play, but the Kangaroos eventually captured a 15-5 lead in the fourth quarter.

The Express made things interesting in the final 6:12 of regulation time as Jansen and Manley struck for a combined four goals to cut the deficit to six. The Express outshot the hosts by a 13-to-11 margin down the stretch, but the seven goals scored in the second quarter by SUNY Canton eliminated any chance of a late comeback for the Express.

Bischoff made a career high 22 saves for Wells, allowing only 15 goals in 60 minutes of play. Dylan Dix started in net for SUNY Canton, allowing three goals on nine total shots before yielding to Corey Spuck and Jeff Hammond who split the remaining 30 minutes evenly. Spuck allowed two goals on four shots before Hammond registered only one save on five total shots faced.

Tanner Pratt scored four goals for the Kangaroos and Jack Keenan picked up 11 loose balls for SUNY Canton. Steve Novak and Trevor Wight each posted four points for the Kangaroos while Andrew Bowes and Cam Carter each caused a team-leading three turnovers.

Wells returns to action Saturday, Apr. 26 as they face-off against the Wildcats from the SUNY Institute of Technology in a 1:00 p.m. road contest.
