Men's Lacrosse Wraps Up Season With Non-Conference Loss

AURORA, N.Y. – Freshman Alex Milliken (Hilton, N.Y.) scored three of his team's five goals as the Wells College men's lacrosse team posted a 14-5 loss to the Lions of Bryn Athyn College on Sunday at the North Athletic Field. Bryn Athyn, who is set to join the North Eastern Athletic Conference during the 2014-15 athletic season, improves to 3-11 following the non-conference win while the Express wrap their seventh season as a varsity program with a 3-9 record (0-7 NEAC).

Milliken concludes a stellar freshman campaign that saw him score a single season record 57 points (47-10=57). As of last Sunday, Milliken led all NCAA Division III players nationally in goals per game (4.33) and also ranks ninth in points per game (5.44). With two goals and an assist during Sunday's loss, sophomore Connor Jansen (Horseheads, N.Y.) moved up to third place all-time on the career point scoring list in Wells history. He boasts 52 goals and 21 assists for 73 points (52-21=73) across 23 games played.

Wells opened the game with a 2-0 lead as Milliken scored back-to-back goals. The first goal came at 10:24 while the second goal, scored only 12 seconds later, was set up by Jansen. Bryn Athyn, however, went on to score the game's next eight goals to build an 8-2 lead with only 7:01 left in the first half. Jansen rounded out the first half scoring with an unassisted strike, setting the halftime score at 8-3.

The second half was dominated by the Lions, who put up six goals in the final 30 minutes of play to eventually open up a 14-4 lead. Milliken converted the hat trick with only one second left on the clock, scoring an unassisted goal to round out the day's offense. Earlier in the fourth quarter, Jansen registered a man-up goal following a penalty by Ben Adams for slashing.

Wells backstop Tyler Bischoff (Allendale, N.J.) made 16 saves in the loss, allowing 14 goals to the Lions. Through his first 25 career games as Wells' starting goaltender, Bischoff ranks first all-time with 14.08 saves per game and boasts the second-highest amount of career saves with 352 to his credit. Robert Moran played all 60 minutes for Bryn Athyn, making nine saves while allowing five goals.

Michael Donnelly led Bryn Athyn with four goals. Luke Frazier scored two goals of his own and set up three, leading the team in assists. Nick Fetko scooped up a team-best six ground balls while Ben Adams caused five turnovers, leading players from both teams.

In a pre-game ceremony, senior Alex Manley (South Buffalo, N.Y.) was honored for his contributions to the program across his four year tenure in Aurora.
