Men's Lacrosse Downed By Keuka, 15-7

AURORA, N.Y. – The Wells College men's lacrosse team posted a 15-7 loss to the Wolfpack from Keuka College on Wednesday at the North Athletic Field. With the loss, Wells dips to 2-7 overall on the year and remains in search of their first North Eastern Athletic Conference victory of the year (0-5). Keuka, the reigning conference champions, improve to 6-2 overall and to 6-0 within league play.

Freshman Ian Domon (Buffalo, N.Y.) led his team with two goals offensively while classmate Brian Buttner (Highland Mills, N.Y.) added a goal and two assists for a team-best three points (1-2=3). Freshman Aaron Heisey (Mechanicsburg, Pa.), senior Hayden Shuster (Careywood, Id.), junior Connor Jansen (Horseheads, N.Y.) and freshman Cody Roberson (Winston-Salem, N.C.) each added goals to round out the scoring.

Keuka opened up an 8-0 lead in the game's first 10:17, but Wells scored back-to-back goals from Heisey and Jansen to cut into the deficit. Brendan King of Keuka scored with 11:39 left in the opening half, but Roberson and Buttner scored two quick goals to cut the hosts' deficit to 9-4 with 6:12 left in the first half.

The Wolfpack would follow Wells' offensive outburst with five-straight goals to build a game-high 14-4 lead with 9:25 left in the third quarter. Wells would score three of the game's final four goals in the fourth quarter, but the early 8-0 run by Keuka would prove too much to overcome.

Keuka would end the game with advantages in shots taken (43-to-24), ground balls (46-to-25) and faceoff victories (20-to-4). The Wolfpack had three players contribute five points on offense, including Matt Beebe, Derek Pfeiffer and James Voigt.

Wells goalkeeper Tyler Bischoff (Allendale, N.J.) would make 13 saves on the afternoon before yielding to sophomore Elijah Tracey (Utica, N.Y.) who chipped in with one save on the lone shot that he faced. The tandem of Eric Saltrelli and Jacob Wood combined for 10 saves on 17 shots on goal for Keuka in the win.

The Express return to action Saturday, Apr. 18 as they face-off against Medaille in a 5 p.m. match at All-High Stadium.
