Jansen Reaches 100 Career Points In NEAC Win vs. Medaille

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Wells College men's lacrosse team secured their first North Eastern Athletic Conference victory in over three years on Saturday, defeating Medaille College by a 13-2 score at All-High Stadium. With the win, Wells moves to 3-7 overall and to 1-5 within conference play while Medaille falls to 2-9 on the year and to 1-6 within the league.

Wells picks up their first North Eastern Athletic Conference victory dating back to Mar. 31, 2012, a 19-4 win against Penn St.-Abington. The Express also net their first win against the Mavericks in eight total games dating back to the team's inception in 2008. The three victories in one season also ties the team record, set three times prior (2011, 2012, 2014).

Junior Connor Jansen (Horseheads, N.Y.) scored three goals and added two assists for five points (3-2=5), becoming only the third player in team history to crack 100 career points. He trails Kylan Hallett '11 by only eight points and the team's program record holder, Daniel Munsell '13, by 27 points of offense.

Sophomore Alex Milliken (Hilton, N.Y.) chipped in with three goals of his own while freshman Tanner Mingen (Houston, Texas) added a hat trick for the Express. Sophomore Nicholas Lewis-Antwi (Bronx, N.Y.) struck for two goals against the Mavericks while freshmen Brian Buttner (Highland Mills, N.Y.) and Aaron Heisey (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) chipped in with a goal and an assist. Freshman Noah Strackbein (Jessup, Pa.) rounded out the point scoring with an assist.

Wells trailed by a 1-0 margin through the game's first 5:20 as Mike Graziano sent home a feed from Lavonte Lee. Wells, however, countered with six goals before the half to open up a 6-1 lead. In the second half, Wells continued the scoring streak with five additional goals to build a 11-1 lead through three quarters.

Medaille scored a goal only 1:12 into the fourth quarter, but Lewis-Antwi and Jansen scored Wells' 12th and 13th goals, respectively. Wells outshot their opponent by a 42-to-17 margin and held decisive advantages in ground balls (46-to-25), faceoff victories (11-to-6) and clears (27-to-18).

Freshman Elijah Tracey (Utica, N.Y.) picked up his first collegiate victory in goal, making three saves. Senior Tyler Bischoff (Allendale, N.J.) made two saves between the pipes as the tandem led the Express to their third victory of the year. For Medaille, David Groves made an impressive 19 saves while allowing 13 goals for the loss.

Wells returns to action Monday, Apr. 20 as they host the Mustangs of Morrisville State College at 4 p.m. on the North Athletic Field.
