Jansen Earns NEAC Offensive Player of the Week

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – Senior captain Connor Jansen (Horseheads, N.Y.) of the Wells College men's lacrosse team has earned North Eastern Athletic Conference Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week honors for his efforts this past week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Jansen and the Express posted a decisive 21-9 victory over Houghton this past Saturday in the first-ever contest played on the newly-constructed artificial turf field in Aurora. Scoring a team-leading five goals against the Highlanders, Jansen also tied his own team record with seven assists. His 12 total points of offense is tied for the most-ever in a single game for the Express.

He has scored at least one point in 36-of-37 career contests for the Express, contributing at least one point across his last 26 games played. His active point scoring streak is the second-longest in team history, trailing only former teammate Daniel Munsell '13 who registered at least one point of offense in 33-straight contests from Mar. 6, 2010 to Apr. 9, 2012.

Exiting play this weekend, Jansen stands only two career points shy of setting the program record in that statistic. Since joining the team as a freshman in 2013, Jansen has scored 82 goals and added 48 assists for 130 points (82-48=130) and currently is the team's all-time leader in career assists. Additionally, he is only seven ground balls short of 200 for his career.

His team's Rookie of the Year award winner in 2013, Jansen becomes only the second student-athlete in team history to win NEAC Player of the Week honors on more than one occasion – he last claimed the award on Apr. 16, 2013.

The Express will travel to Bethlehem, Pa. for a non-conference tilt with Moravian at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Mar. 16.
