Men's Lacrosse Drops Season-Opener at Alfred State

The Wells College men's lacrosse team opened its 2017 season with a road game at Alfred State, and the host Pioneers won by an 11-8 score on Wednesday, March 1. Alfred State used a strong effort in the third quarter to build an advantage, but Wells came back and challenged in the fourth quarter.

The game was tied 2-2 at halftime, but Alfred State outscored Wells 6-1 in the third quarter. Wells responded by outscoring Alfred State 5-3 in the fourth quarter.

The Express offense was led by four goals from Brady Hoose and three goals from Alex Milliken. Brian Buttner scored the other goal for Wells. Aaron Heisey had two assists, and Tanner Mingen, Ian Domon, and Hoose had one assist each.

Wells goalie Nick Hallinan made 16 saves. Alex Milliken had five caused turnovers and Mingen had three. Mingen led Wells with six ground balls.

Alfred State improved to 1-1 on the season, and Wells stands at 0-1. The Express makes its home debut Saturday at 3 p.m. against Western Connecticut State.
