Offense Carries Wells Men's Lacrosse To Victory

The Wells College men's lacrosse team defeated SUNY Cobleskill 18-8 on Saturday, April 1 at the Wells Turf Field in Aurora, N.Y. Wells used a consistent offense that scored nine goals in each half and saw five different players score multiple goals in the North Eastern Athletic Conference opener for both teams.

Wells stands at 2-3 overall and is 1-0 in the NEAC. SUNY Cobleskill is 2-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference.

Alex Milliken led Wells with eight goals. Two of those came in the first quarter as Wells built a 5-2 lead after the opening 15 minutes. Brady Hoose, Aaron Heisey and Alex Milliken scored to put Wells ahead 3-0. After two goals for Cobleskill, Hoose and Alex Milliken scored again.

Milliken scored twice in the second quarter, and Heisey and Tanner Mingen also scored. Wells was ahead 9-4 at halftime.

Milliken opened the third quarter with three goals in a row, and then assisted on a goal by his brother Jordan Milliken. Tanner Mingen and Brady Hoose added goals to complete a six-goal run for the Express to start the second half.

In addition to Alex Milliken's eight goals, Brady Hoose scored four and Jordan Milliken, Aaron Heisey and Tanner Mingen scored twice each. Alex Milliken had two assists and Brady Hoose had one assist. Goalkeeper Nick Hallinan made 12 saves. Heisey led Wells with 11 ground balls.

Each team won 15 faceoffs. The Express was 2-for-4 in man-up opportunities.

Wells returns to action Wednesday, April 5 at Cazenovia College at 4 p.m.
