Men's Lacrosse Players Earn All-Conference Honors

The Wells College men's lacrosse team had three players recognized with all-conference honors as the North Eastern Athletic Conference announced its annual awards for the 2017 season on Wednesday, May 3. The conference honors were voted on by league coaches, and 39 deserving student-athletes were honored by position with first, second, or third team recognition among nine member institutions.

Alex Milliken earned a place on the First Team and Tanner Mingen and Cash Lawson were selected to the all-conference Third Team.

Milliken was voted onto the All-NEAC First Team for the first time in his career. The senior attackman from Hilton, N.Y. has earned all-conference recognition all four seasons for the Express. He was on the Third Team as a freshman in 2014 and on the second team in the 2015 and 2016 seasons. It is the second year in a row that Wells has had a First Team all-conference player, and Milliken is the third player in program history to earn a place on the First Team. Milliken is the all-time leading scorer at Wells with 143 goals, 59 assists, and 202 points. In 2017, he ranked second in the NEAC with 44 goals and eighth in the conference with 52 points.

Tanner Mingen was voted to the All-NEAC Third Team at Short-Stick Midfield. In 12 games, he ranked third on the team in scoring with 21 goals and 10 assists for 31 points. Mingen's 10 assists led Wells in that category. He had 17 caused turnovers, which ranked 11th in the conference. Mingen had 85 ground balls, which ranked second on the team. The junior from Houston, Texas picked up his first career all-conference award.

Sophomore defender Cash Lawson earned All-NEAC honors for the first time in his career. He was a starter on defense in all 12 games with eight caused turnovers and 30 ground balls. Lawson picked up his first career point with an assist against SUNY Canton.

The Wells College men's lacrosse team tied its best overall win total in 10 years of competition as a varsity program with four wins, and the three conference wins established a program-best in that category. Wells was 4-8 overall and 3-5 in the NEAC.
