Nine-Goal Run Keys Men's Lacrosse Victory

The Wells College men's lacrosse team broke open a close game with a run of nine goals over the second and third quarters and went on to an 18-6 victory over visiting Medaille College on Tuesday, March 27 at the Wells Turf Field in Aurora, N.Y.

The game was tied 3-3 in the second quarter but Wells closed the quarter with three goals in a row and led 6-3 at halftime. The Express scored six more goals in the third quarter and held Medaille scoreless over that stretch as Wells built a commanding 12-3 lead.

The Express closed the game by outscoring Medaille 6-3 in the fourth quarter to account for the final score.

Six different players scored for the Express and five had multi-goal games. Brady Hoose had five goals and three assists. Aaron Heisey had four goals and two assists and Tanner Mingen had four goals. Brian Buttner and Carson Combs scored twice each. Ian Domon also scored for Wells. Dalibor Hanes had an assist, which was his first collegiate point.

Medaille had 36 turnovers in the game, and 15 of those were directly caused by Wells players. Cash Lawson had five caused turnovers, Tanner Mingen had three, and Hoose, Combs, and Aaron Ramsey had two each. Mingen had 11 ground balls and Aaron Heisey had seven.

Wells goalkeeper Zack Simone had three saves.

It was the first North Eastern Athletic Conference game of the season for both teams. Wells is 3-3 overall and 1-0 in the NEAC. Medaille is 0-3 overall and 0-1 in the NEAC. Wells is back in action Tuesday, April 3 at 4 p.m. against Cazenovia at the Wells Turf Field.
