MEN'S SOCCER PLAYS TO SCORELESS TIE

(Aurora, N.Y.)─ The Wells College men's soccer team played to a scoreless tie against the Keuka College Storm in North Eastern Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon in Aurora. Aaron Body (Commack, N.Y./Commack) finished with five saves to pace the Express, while Kyle Salo (Red Creek, N.Y./Red Creek) tallied six saves to lead the Storm. The tie moves the Express to 4-8-3 (2-3-2 NEAC) on the year, while Keuka moves to 8-3-2 (4-1-2 NEAC).
 
Wells controlled the majority of the first half, outshooting the Storm 9-4.The Express best scoring opportunity came with under five minutes remaining in the half. Patrick Sodums (Candor, N.Y./Spencer Van Etten) sent a pass to a streaking Delroy Roberts (Schenectady, N.Y./Schenectady) who blasted a shot to the far post, but Salo made a diving save, tipping the ball just wide as the game remained scoreless heading into the break.
 
Midway through the second half the Storm began to pressure the Express. Shane Reynolds (Glens Falls, N.Y./Glens Falls) headed a cross attempt over the outstretched hands of Brody and off the cross bar, the rebound popped up to Carl Learned (Elmira, N.Y./Elmira Free Academy), who headed the ball wide right of the post as the game remained deadlocked, 0-0, with 19 minutes left to play.
 
The two overtime periods generated little offense as the two squads played to a defensive stalemate. For the game, Keuka held the advantage in shots on goal 6-5, while Wells held the advantage in corner kicks 10-3.
 
Wells returns to action next against NEAC opponent Cazenovia College on Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 3 p.m. in Cazenovia.
