MEN’S SOCCER PLAYS TO 0-0 DRAW AGAINST ALFRED

(Aurora, N.Y.)- Freshmen goalie C.J. Bayly (Waymart, Pa./Western Wayne) made eight saves as the Wells College men's soccer team played to a 0-0 draw against the Alfred University Saxons on Tuesday afternoon in Aurora. Elliot Thorpe (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) led the Saxons with four saves. The tie moves the Express to 3-4-1 on the season, while the Saxons move to 4-2-2.

Alfred held the advantages in shots 21-12, while both teams finished with four corner kicks a piece.

The Express generated the first legitimate scoring chance of the game early in the second half. Delroy Roberts broke into the offensive zone, creating enough space between him and the defender to send a cross into the box that Blasdimil Gomez headed just wide of the net as the game remained scoreless.

The Saxons fired back with their own scoring chance at 62:58 off the foot of a wide open Nick Schneider who sent a low shot to the far post but, a diving Bayly tipped the ball just wide of the net preserving the scoreless tie.

It was a hard fought, aggressive game and overtime produced the same play as each team managed just one shot on goal. Defense was the only victor as each team walked away with a tie.

The Express return to action on Saturday to take on Gallaudet University at 5:00 p.m. in Washington, D.C.
