WELLS MEN’S SOCCER ROLLS PAST GALLAUDET

AURORA, N.Y. – Five different players scored as the Wells College men's soccer team rolled past the Gallaudet University Bison 5-0 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action on Sunday afternoon in Aurora. Delroy Roberts (Kingston, Jamaica), Adam Sullivan (Ithaca, N.Y.), and William Schanbacher (Lockwood, N.Y.) each finished with one goal and one assist to lead the Express while goalie CJ Bayly (Waymart, Pa.) earned the win in net with two saves. With the victory the Express improve to 6-4 (3-1 NEAC) while the Bison fall to 0-6 (0-2 NEAC).

Justin Rigney (New York, N.Y.) and Forrest Lambert (Aurora, Colo.) also added a goal while Trevor Fahey (Woodland, N.J.) chipped in with an assist to round out the scoring for Wells.

The Express came out firing in the first half and would have several scoring chances but would be unable to convert as the game remained scoreless mid-way through. It wouldn't be until the 22nd minute that Schanbacher put the Express ahead. Fahey sent a cross over to the far right post where Schanbacher easily headed the ball in for a 1-0 lead. Moments later, Rigney pressured an attempted clear by the Bison defense, stealing the ball -- breaking in alone -- and beating the goalie to the left side for a 2-0 advantage.

Gallaudet would have an opportunity to get on the board before the end of the first half. With the ball played over the Express defense, JP Kanashiro (Springfield, Va.) broke in and ripped a shot off the cross bar as the score remained 2-0 heading into the break.

Less than three minutes into the second half, the Express drew a foul, earning a direct kick from just outside the 18. Sullivan sent a touch pass over to Lambert who would sneak behind the defensive line of the Gallaudet and beat the keeper low for a commanding 3-0 lead.

Sullivan found the back of the net in the 67th minute. A cross to Roberts looked to be headed off the end line but, Roberts headed the ball back towards the top of the box, finding Sullivan, who sent a shot past diving Bison goalie Jordan Ramser (Louisville, Ky.) for a 4-0 lead.

Roberts finished the scoring for the Express in the 82nd minute, taking a corner kick from Schanbacher off the chest and into the goal for a 5-0 lead that would hold for the win.

The Express outshot the Bison 35-5 and held the advantage in corner kicks 8-1.

The Express return to action on Saturday, October 1 when they travel to take on NEAC foe Lancaster Bible at 2 p.m. in Lancaster, Pa.
