THREE SECOND HALF GOALS LEAD PIONEERS PAST EXPRESS

AURORA, N.Y. – The Utica College men's soccer team scored three second half goals en route to a 4-2 victory over the Wells College Express in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon in Aurora. J.P. Rosas (Guayaquil, Ecuador) tallied two goals for the Express while goalie David Kaus (Erie, Pa.) finished with six saves. With the loss the Express fall to 6-7 on the season while Utica improves to 6-5.

In total four different players registered a goal for the Pioneers. Jonathan Wood (Derry, N.H.), Daniel Garcia (Fairport, N.Y.), David Runikera (Gaithersburg, Md.), and Steven Romero (New Rochelle, N.Y.) all tallied a goal while Kevin McAllister (Boxfod, Mass.) and Chris Stashko (Apalachin, N.Y.) chipped in with one assist each. Anthony Caruso (Easton, Conn.) earned the victory in net with two saves.

Utica tallied the only score of the first half tin he 14th minute on a goal by Woodman. The Pioneers exploded for three straight goals in the second half. Garcia scored less than four minutes into the half and Runikera and Romero each scored three minutes apart as Utica opened up a four goal lead (4-0).

Despite the large deficit, the Express refused to give in. Rosas scored two straight goals to cut the lead to 4-2 on assist from Justin Rigney (New York, N.Y.) and Delroy Roberts (Kingston, Jamaica) but, it would be too little too late as the Pioneers held on for the two goal lead.

The Express return to action on Thursday when they travel to take on NEAC opponent Keuka College at 5 p.m. in Keuka Park, N.Y.
