Men’s Soccer Blanked By Keuka, 2-0

AURORA, N.Y. – Defenseman Luke Miller (New Hartford, N.Y.) fired three shots on goal to lead the team, but the Wells College men's soccer team posted a 2-0 loss, their second consecutive losing decision, to the Keuka College Storm Saturday afternoon at the South Athletic Field. With the loss, the Express even their overall record at 3-3 and fall to 1-2 within North Eastern Athletic Conference play. Keuka (4-1, 2-1 NEAC) collected their fourth victory of the season in today's game.

For Keuka, John Mastrella scored what would prove to be the game-winning goal for the Storm at 38:43 of the first half. Following a scrum at the front of the net, the ball kicked off of a Wells defender in the box. Mastrella picked up the loose ball and forced it past Express netminder C.J. Bayly (Waymart, Pa.) for the first goal of the contest. Austin Gerber later scored a goal of his own, in the 55th minute, to grant the Storm a 2-0 lead which they would not relinquish.

Bayly (3-3) drew his third loss despite turning aside six of eight shots on net in the game. Preston Vick picked up the shutout for the Storm, halting all six shots on goal.

The Express return to action Tuesday, Sept. 18 as they host visiting Alfred University in a 5:00 p.m. contest.
