Adams, O’Callaghan Power Men’s Soccer Past D’Youville

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – Senior captain Pat O'Callaghan (Selden, N.Y.) and freshman J. Tyler Adams (Eastampton, N.J.) scored goals as the Wells College men's soccer team posted a 2-0 victory over the Spartans of D'Youville College Friday afternoon on the campus of Keuka College. With the victory, the Express jump out to a 1-0 overall record following the non-conference tilt while the Spartans drop to 0-1 in the early goings.

Off of a free kick, O'Callaghan put the Express on the scoreboard in the 52nd minute to grant Wells the 1-0 lead. Following a D'Youville foul, O'Callaghan scored his fifth career goal which eventually proved to be the game-winning strike, the second of his career. Adams, in his first collegiate game, scored a highlight-reel goal after using a "bicycle kick" motion for the second goal of the tilt.

Sophomore Wyatt Buerkle (Cincinnatus, N.Y.) and freshman Marshall Kaplan (Trumbull, Conn.) each led the way with four shots for the Express while Buerkle and Adams led the team with two shots on goal apiece. Wells out-shot the Spartans by a 22-to-0 margin.

Express backstop Michael Sciotti (North Syracuse, N.Y.) earned the victory in his first collegiate game, making zero saves en route to his first collegiate shutout. Matt Smith posted 10 saves for D'Youville, allowing two goals on 22 Wells shots.

Wells returns to action Saturday, Aug. 31 as they face-off against Pitt.-Bradford in a 4:00 p.m. tilt at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex on the campus of Keuka College.
