O’Callaghan Nets NEAC Defensive Player Of The Week Honors

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – Senior captain Pat O'Callaghan (Selden, N.Y.) was selected as the North Eastern Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week after his performance for the Wells College men's soccer team this past week. O'Callaghan and the Express are off to the best start in program history with a 2-0 record.

Against D'Youville on Aug. 30, O'Callaghan recorded the first goal of the game in a 2-0 blanking of the Spartans. The goal, which proved to be the game-winning strike, was the fifth goal of his career. As a leader on defense, O'Callaghan helped rookie goalkeeper Michael Sciotti (North Syracuse, N.Y.) record a shutout in his first career contest between the pipes for Wells.

Versus Pitt.-Bradford on Sunday, O'Callaghan and the backfield held the opposition to only six shots in the goal – only four shots reached Express netminder C.J. Bayly (Waymart, Pa.) in the game. Cumulatively on the year, Wells has allowed only one goal entering Wednesday's contest against Medaille.

Wells returns to action Wednesday, Sept. 4 as they host the Mavericks of Medaille College in a 5:00 p.m. contest at the South Athletic Field.
