Bayly Nets NEAC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week Honors

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – Senior goalkeeper C.J. Bayly (Waymart, Pa.) was selected as the North Eastern Athletic Conference's Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon. Bayly and the Express are off to a 3-0-1 start to their season, the best four game stretch to open a season in program history.

Against Medaille on Wednesday, Sept. 4, Bayly earned the 12th shutout of his career after posting 11 saves against the reigning Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference champions who also earned a spot in the NCAA Division III tournament last year. The Express, who collected their third-straight victory against Medaille with a 1-0 victory, had learned earlier in the week that they were receiving votes in the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division III Men's Soccer East Region poll.

Versus the reigning NEAC champion Mustangs of Morrisville State College on Saturday, Bayly turned aside 9-of-10 shots on goal that he faced in a 1-1 double overtime stalemate. Across 200 minutes of action this past week, Bayly allowed only one goal for a miniscule 0.45 goals-against average and a .952 save percentage.

On the season, Bayly has made appearances in three games and has allowed only two goals alongside 23 saves, posting an 0.62 goals-against average and a .920 save percentage. Cumulatively, Bayly and freshman Michael Sciotti (North Syracuse, N.Y.) have limited opponents to two goals and an 0.47 goals-against average in 380 minutes of action.

Wells returns to action this Wednesday, Sept. 11 as the men's soccer team hosts the Pioneers of Utica College in a 5:00 p.m. tilt at the South Athletic Field.
