Sowersby Collects NEAC Offensive Player Of The Week Honors

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – Freshman forward Hunter Sowersby (Sidney, N.Y.) was selected as the North Eastern Athletic Conference's Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon. Sowersby and the Express are off to a 4-0-1 start to their season, the best four game stretch to open a season in program history.

Against SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday, Sowersby scored two goals in a 3-1 road victory. Sowersby became the first freshman men's soccer player at Wells since Delroy Roberts '12 to score two goals in one game as a rookie – Roberts accomplished that feat against D'Youville College on Oct. 25, 2008.

On the season, Sowersby is tied for the team lead in goals scored (2) and points (4) and has racked up a team-best nine shots on goal in only five games. He is also tied for third overall in the conference in goal scoring and ninth overall in point scoring.

Wells returns to action Tuesday, Sept. 17 as they face-off against Alfred University in a 7:00 p.m. road contest under the lights.
