Bayly Collects NEAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week Award

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – For the second time this season, senior goalkeeper C.J. Bayly (Waymart, Pa.) was selected as the North Eastern Athletic Conference's Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon. Bayly and the Express are off to a 5-1-1 start to their season that includes a 1-0-1 mark in conference play, their best start in program history.

Against Oswego State College on Saturday, Bayly turned aside 12-of-13 shots on goal that he faced in a 3-1 Express victory. With his strong performance, Bayly picked up his 22nd career victory between the pipes for Wells and remains undefeated on the season with a 4-0-1 record. Wells also earned their first-ever top-10 ranking in the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division III East Region Poll this past week and awaits word from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America on their possible ranking this week.

Bayly, who wins the Defensive Player of the Week award for the second time this year, is the fourth award winner from Wells to pick up Player of the Week merits. Bayly joins freshman Hunter Sowersby (Sidney, N.Y.) and senior captain Pat O'Callaghan (Selden, N.Y.) as recipients of the awards in 2013.

Wells returns to action this Wednesday, Sept. 25 as they face-off against the Hawks of Hilbert College in a 2:00 p.m. road contest.
