Sciotti Collects NEAC Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – For the second straight week, sophomore Michael Sciotti (North Syracuse, N.Y.) was tabbed as the North Eastern Athletic Conference's Men's Soccer Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week after an outstanding performance against league-rival SUNYIT on Saturday.

Versus the Wildcats, Sciotti turned aside all 14 shots on net that he faced as his team picked up a 3-0 road victory. The 14 saves are the most by a Wells goalkeeper in nearly five years as Mike Birklin '10 was the previous backstop to make more than 13 saves in a contest.

Amongst league goalkeepers, Sciotti holds a convincing lead with an .862 save percentage and also boasts four shutouts, one ahead of SUNYIT netminder Jesse Yanarella. He trails only Morrisville State's Rob Larkin with a 0.94 goals-against average.

For his career, Sciotti boasts seven goalkeeping victories across only 13 contests played. His 1.06 goals-against average is first amongst Wells backstops with 1,000-plus minutes played and his .829 career save percentage leads all Express players in team history.
