Men's Soccer Edges Cazenovia, Earns 10th Victory

CAZENOVIA, N.Y. – Goals from junior Nicholas Constantino (Cincinnatus, N.Y.) and sophomore J. Tyler Adams (Eastampton, N.J.) elevated the Wells College men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Cazenovia College on Saturday at Christakos Field. The Express (10-4-1, 6-2 NEAC) have reached double-digit victories for the first time ever while improving to 6-2 within the North Eastern Athletic Conference. Cazenovia (5-9, 3-5) picked up their fifth loss in six contests.

The Express picked up their first win over Cazenovia dating back to a 2-0 victory on Sept. 16, 2008, snapping a five-match losing streak to the Wildcats. Wells also picked up their program-record sixth NEAC victory this afternoon, breaking the previous record of five league wins achieved in 2012.

Wells got on the board first after Constantino potted an unassisted goal at 36:10. The Express opened up a 2-0 lead only 11:51 into the second half as Adams booted home a pass from sophomore Marshall Kaplan (Trumbull, Conn.) to increase the visitors' advantage. Corey McNair's unassisted goal in the 61st minute was the only tally by the host Wildcats, who were outshot by a 9-to-5 margin through 90 minutes.

Express goalkeeper Michael Sciotti (North Syracuse, N.Y.) made four saves in the victory, allowing only the unassisted goal to the Wildcats. Cazenovia's Brad LeFevre made seven saves for the Wildcats, but allowed two goals to draw the loss.

Wells returns to action Friday, Oct. 24 as they host the Chargers of Lancaster Bible College in a 4 p.m. contest.
