Naula Named To USA Sports Division III Men's Soccer Team

AURORA, N.Y. – Senior midfielder Charles Naula (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) has earned placement on the USA Sports Tours and Events Division III Men's Soccer team, Wells College Head Coach Dan Kane announced on Thursday. Naula, a member of the men's soccer team at Wells, will join a squad of All-American, All-Region and All-Conference players from around the country as they travel to Brazil this summer to compete in several exhibition contests.

Naula will join his 16 teammates in Orlando, Fla. on May 26 and will practice for two days before flying to Brazil. Upon touchdown in South America, the team will play three contests in the city of Jundiai and the state of Sao Paolo on May 28, 29, and 30. Next, the team will travel to Rio de Janeiro for their fourth and final game on June 2. Across the trip, Naula and the team will face-off against the top U-22 club teams from the region.

"He was an integral part of our program for the last four years and I am sure that he will thrive with his team in Brazil. His versatility and talent make him an excellent representative for Wells College, the North Eastern Athletic Conference and Division III student-athletes across the country."

Naula wrapped up a stellar four-year career this past fall where he scored a career-high two goals and three assists for seven points (2-3=7). He concluded his career ranked second all-time with eight career assists and has earned the ninth-most starts for the Express with 57 in 64 career games.

On Senior Day against Penn St.-Berks, Naula exploded for his first two collegiate goals in his team's 2-0 victory against the Nittany Lions. As a key cog in the midfield for the Express, he helped his team set single-season records for total points scored (31-26=88), points per game (4.89) and assists (26) as they posted their best season ever with an 11-6-1 overall record.

Defensively, Naula and the Express posted a 1.04 goals-against average that ranked first all-time in team history. The squad's .835 save percentage on the year was also one of the team's best, ranking second all-time.
