Men's Soccer Shut Out By Keystone, 1-0

LA PLUME, Pa. – Following a scoreless opening 45 minutes of action, a goal by Keystone College only 2:13 into the second half felled the Wells College men's soccer team by a 1-0 final score on Tuesday under the lights. Wells falls to 0-1 on the young season while Keystone moves to 1-0 on the year.

The Express held the fast-charging Keystone offense scoreless in the opening stanza despite a 9-to-4 shot advantage for the Giants. On the second Keystone shot of the second half, however, Abreham Kittel took advantage of a mix-up on defense by Wells, scoring from short range. In total, the Giants fired 20 shots in the contest while the Express were held to 13.

Midfielder Wyatt Buerkle (Cincinnatus, N.Y.) led the way with three shots on goal for Wells, who placed six out of their 13 shots on cage.

Wells backstop Michael Sciotti (North Syracuse, N.Y.) drew the loss in the contest despite matching his counterpart from Keystone, Adam Zbiciak, with six saves. Wells held the advantage in corner kicks, 5-to-4, while committing one more foul (17-to-16) than the hosts.

The Express return to action Friday, Sept. 4 as they face-off against the Spartans of D'Youville College at 5 p.m. on the campus of Keuka College.
