Cherry Earns NEAC Offensive Player of the Week Honors

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – Senior forward Max Cherry (Ridgewood, N.J.) of the Wells College men's soccer team has been selected as the North Eastern Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon. Last week, Cherry and the Express picked up two-straight victories heading into the nomination period.

Cherry scored a pair of goals in back-to-back Wells shutout victories against D'Youville and Pitt.-Bradford in the Keuka Lakefront Classic this past weekend. In his last three games on the campus of Keuka College, Cherry boasts three-straight two goal efforts and recently passed teammate Hunter Sowersby (Sidney, N.Y.) for third place all-time on the career point scoring list for Wells.

In his four-year career, Cherry boasts 12 goals and five assists for 29 points (12-5=29) and remains only eight points behind Justin Rigney '12 with 37 career points (16-5=37). He is only two game-tying goals away from equaling the output of Delroy Roberts who recorded seven for Wells from 2008 to 2011.

The Express hit the road this Sunday, Sept. 13 as they face-off against Utica at 5 p.m.
