Men's Soccer Slips Past Penn St.-Berks, 3-2

READING, Pa. – The Wells College men's soccer team posted a 3-2 victory over the Nittany Lions from Penn St.-Berks on the road Saturday. The Express moves to 3-5 on the year while earning their first North Eastern Athletic Conference win of 2015. The Nittany Lions fall to 2-3-1 in their first league match of the year.

Wells fell behind 1-0 only 1:51 into the contest as Omar Guzman was set up by T.J. Yurkovic to stun the Express in the game's early goings. Freshman Jack Pilgrim (North Kingstown, R.I.), however, tallied his third goal in two days off of an assist from senior Wyatt Buerkle (McGraw, N.Y.) to knot the score at one in the game's 27th minute.

Only 1:58 into the second half, freshman Justin Bingham (New Lebanon, N.Y.) picked up his first collegiate goal to lift his team to a 2-1 advantage off of a Buerkle assist. Sophomore Jim Duchesneau (South Glastonbury, Conn.) added insurance at 50:56, drilling a loose ball into the back right corner of the goal to put Wells ahead by two.

Penn St.-Berks added goal in the game's final 10:47 from Jon Mercier, but the Express were able to stave off a late comeback despite a struck crossbar in the final six minutes by the hosts.

Wells goalkeeper Owen May (Warsaw, N.Y.) finished the game with two saves to his credit. Rotman Saltos made five saves on eight shots for Penn St.-Berks.
