Pilgrim Named NEAC Offensive Player of the Week

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – Freshman Jack Pilgrim (North Kingstown, R.I.) of the Wells College men's soccer team was selected as the North Eastern Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

Pilgrim helped the Express to a 2-1 record with a strong offensive effort this past week, scoring three goals while adding an assist for seven points (3-1=7) against formidable conference opponents. He scored both of his team's goals in a 2-1 overtime victory against Morrisville State on Wednesday, handing the defending league champions their first NEAC loss in their last 18 contests. He also chipped in with a goal and an assist against SUNY Cobleskill this past Sunday.

On the season, Pilgrim has scored eight goals and added three assists for 19 points (8-3=19), leading the team in scoring. He has already set the single-season point scoring record for a freshman and is only four points away from tying Delroy Roberts for the most points scored in one season by any player.

He enters next week's slate of games ranked fifth overall in the NEAC in point scoring and his seven goals and three assists against league opponents is ranked third.

The Express will seek their 10th overall victory of the season this Saturday, Oct. 24 as they travel to Bryn Athyn College for a 2 p.m. NEAC contest.
