AURORA, N.Y. – After an impressive regular season that saw the Wells College men's soccer team post 12 wins in 18 games, the Express have qualified for the North Eastern Athletic Conference postseason with a 9-3 mark in league play to earn the league's No. 2 seed. Wells will play a yet-to-be-determined opponent this Saturday, Nov. 7 at 2 p.m. on the campus of Morrisville State College.

Concluding the month of October with eight wins in nine games, the second-seeded Express have earned a first-round bye and will play the winner of the No. 6 Penn St.-Berks and No. 3 Keuka matchup on Wednesday, Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. The host Mustangs from Morrisville State earned the league's top seed and will take on the winner of the No. 5 Lancaster Bible/No. 4 SUNY Poly matchup. The league's championship game will be played Sunday, Nov. 7 at 1 p.m.

Tickets to the championship will cost $4.00 for adults and $2.00 for students and senior citizens. Children under the age of 12 and military personnel will be admitted to the games free of charged. A maximum family fee of $20 will be in effect at the site of competition. Live Stats and Video of the game will be available on the Wells College Athletics website.

"Our team is thrilled to have earned the second seed for the upcoming NEAC tournament," remarked Head Coach Dan Kane. "We have a great amount of respect for our potential opponents and we are looking forward to a fantastic weekend. Our team is playing its best soccer of the year and the players are eager to carry our positive momentum into this weekend."

Heading into the tournament, Wells has improved its team winning percentage for the seventh-straight season under Kane. Setting the team record for conference victories with nine, the Express set program records in offensive points (32-30=94), points per game (5.22), assists (30), goals-against average (0.92) and team shutouts (8). The team has qualified for the postseason for the second-straight year.

The Wells backfield has been a key component of the team's success in 2015. Led by centerback Tyler Morris (Maryland, N.Y.) and the senior leadership of Justin Zywot (Niskayuna, N.Y.) and Ryan Mitzel (Voorhees, N.J.), the defensive corps has limited its goaltenders to average only 3.06 saves per game while posting the team's lowest goals-against average in team history (0.92). Morris' athletic and academic performance in 2015 earned him his squad's first-ever Capital One Academic All-District honor last week.

Offensively, Wells is led by freshman Jack Pilgrim (North Kingstown, R.I.) and senior Max Cherry (Ridgewood, N.J.). Pilgrim has scored 10 goals and added three assists for 23 total points (10-3=23), ranking sixth overall in the conference, while Cherry has tallied eight goals and four assists, tying for the league lead with five overall game-winning goals. Against conference opponents, Cherry and Pilgrim have tabulated six of their team's nine game-winning goals.
